Lake County Farm Bureau Gives 100 Percent

2016 FFB Annual Mtg Happy & HoblickLake County Farm Bureau’s Board of Directors is the first county Farm Bureau leadership group with 100 percent participation in the FedPAC Fundraising drive.

“This achievement demonstrates Lake County’s commitment to our federal advocacy efforts,” said John Walt Boatright. “We are thankful for their leadership in this effort.”

Florida Farm Bureau’s Federal Political Action Committee (FedPAC) was formed in 1993 to support federal candidates who support agriculture. Since it began, there has been a 42 percent increase in farm-friendly legislators in the U.S. House of Representatives.

FedPAC is governed by a board of directors comprised of active farmers and ranchers who consider all requests for support. Every dollar spent is approved by the FedPAC committee.

The Florida Farm Bureau State Board of Directors challenged county Farm Bureaus earlier this year to gain support from every county board member in the amount of $50 to help the state reach its $20,000 fundraising goal.

Lake County eagerly took on the challenge and was the first county Farm Bureau to have each of its board members contribute to the FedPAC fund.

“We felt like we needed to step up to the plate and take on this challenge,” said Lake County Farm Bureau President “Happy” Norris. “Farmers and ranchers have many issues to deal with and working together collectively is much stronger than what we can do individually.”
