WHIP Deadline Approaching

The sign up period for the 2017 Wildfires and Hurricanes Indemnity Program (WHIP) will end on November 16, 2018. It is imperative that producers contact their local FSA office if they incurred damage from Hurricane IRMA in 2017. If your FSA office is having communication issues due to Hurricane Michael, it is recommended that you reach out to your congressional office or FFBF National Affairs.

WHIP was conceived from a congressional appropriation of $2.4 billion in response to crop damage incurred by the 2017 hurricane season. Insured AND uninsured producers are eligible to apply. It is also important to note that if you do not have an established farm record with FSA, you will need to go through this process in addition to the WHIP application. If you have not scheduled an appointment yet, a producer will need to bring proof of identity, documentation that ties the producer to the production land (i.e. recorder deed, survey plat, lease agreement), and any corporation or estate documents, if applicable.
